Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, jointly conducted a national-level 24-hour hackathon with IBM on 12 and 13 September 2026 at its campus in Nava India, Coimbatore. Over 1,000 participants from 37 universities and colleges across 16 states registered, with 77 teams qualifying for the finals. The valedictory function, presided over by Dr Sundar Ramakrishnan, Managing Trustee of SNR Sons Trust, saw Sri Sri University, Odisha win first prize in the Eastern zone category, followed by Arka Jain University, Jharkhand, Brainware University, West Bengal, and Sarala Birla University, Ranchi.
Coimbatore: Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science, located in Nava India, Coimbatore, jointly organised a national-level 24-hour hackathon competition with IBM. The event was held over two days, on 12.09.2026 (Saturday) and 13.09.2026 (Sunday), at the college campus.
The hackathon was inaugurated by Dr P.L. Sivakumar, Principal and Secretary of Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science, along with Jagadisha Bhat, India Manager of IBM.
The valedictory function, held on the evening of 13.09.2026, was presided over by Dr Sundar Ramakrishnan, Managing Trustee of SNR Sons Trust, who distributed prizes to the winning teams and commended their achievements.
More than 1,000 competitors from 37 universities and colleges, representing engineering and arts and science disciplines, registered for the hackathon. Participants came from across India, including the states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Gujarat, Punjab, Maharashtra, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Rajasthan, and Odisha. Out of these, only 77 eligible teams were selected to compete in the finals.
Prizes were awarded to the winning teams in the finals. In the Eastern zone category, Sri Sri University, Odisha, won first prize. Arka Jain University, Jharkhand, secured both the second and third prizes. Brainware University, West Bengal, won the fourth prize, while Sarala Birla University, Ranchi, took the fifth prize.
Certificates and shields were presented to the competitors from the winning educational institutions.
The event was attended in large numbers by participants, students, and professors from various states, adding to the grandeur of the occasion. The programme was excellently organised by Dr G. Mary Priscilla, Head of the Department of Computer Science, Dr N. Sumathi, Head of the Department of Information Technology, professors from the computer science field, and technical experts from IBM.
