Public Petition to Relocate Cotton Reeling Factory in Narasimmanaickenpalayam

Residents of Narasimmanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore petitioned the district collector to relocate a privately owned cotton reeling factory due to environmental and noise pollution.

Coimbatore: A group of local citizens from Narasimmanaickenpalayam submitted a petition to District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati today, April 29, demanding the relocation of a privately owned cotton reeling factory operating in their area. Situated in Bombay Nagar, the factory named Sri Kumaran Tex, has allegedly been causing substantial environmental issues, including air and noise pollution, affecting the local residents.

The petitioners, Jeevanantham and Kalyana Sundaram, highlighted that the factory, operational for the past nine months at Door No. 31, Bombay Nagar, lies within the jurisdictions of Kurumbapalayam Panchayat. The area encompasses several localities like Bombay Nagar, Bharathi Nagar, and Kalyanasundaram Nagar, hosting over a hundred houses that have been established for more than 30 years.

The residents argue that the cotton dust and other emissions from the factory have significantly deteriorated the quality of life in the region, urging the authorities to take immediate action for the welfare of the community.
