Coimbatore District Honours Election Awareness Contributors for 2026 Assembly Polls

Coimbatore District Administration conducted a special recognition ceremony at IMA Hall to honour individuals and organisations who contributed to voter awareness campaigns during Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Elections 2026. District witnessed a remarkable increase in voter turnout from 68 percent to 85 percent due to grassroots awareness efforts.


Coimbatore: A special appreciation and award distribution ceremony was held at IMA Hall, Coimbatore, to recognise individuals and organisations that played a pivotal role in creating voter awareness and enhancing public participation during the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Elections 2026.

The programme, organised under the leadership of the Coimbatore District Administration, saw District Collector Pawan Kumar Giriyappanar personally distributing awards and certificates to selected members from various organisations in recognition of their outstanding contribution and dedicated service during the election period.



Among the award recipients were Abdul Hakkim, Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) and President of Kuniyamuthur Residents Welfare Association; Nisar, Secretary of Subbulakshmi Nagar Association; Robin from ECM, Kuniyamuthur Nagar Association; Ansari from Solidarity Youth Wing; and Mohammed Al Faheem from Students Islamic Organisation (SIO).

These individuals were specially recognised for successfully organising and coordinating the 100 percent Vote Awareness Campaign, which encouraged residents to actively participate in the democratic process and helped spread awareness about the importance of voting across various residential areas.



Significantly, the voter turnout in Coimbatore district during the previous Tamil Nadu Assembly Election stood at around 68 percent, whereas the 2026 election witnessed a remarkable increase to nearly 85 percent voter participation. The organisers and participants expressed pride that their continuous grassroots awareness efforts, door-to-door campaigns, public interactions, and voter awareness rallies had contributed significantly towards increasing public participation in the democratic process.

The event witnessed participation from numerous NGOs, social organisations, youth groups, and welfare associations from different sectors who contributed in various ways during the 2026 elections. The gathering reflected the spirit of civic responsibility and collective social participation.



District Collector Pawan Kumar Giriyappanar appreciated the sincere efforts, teamwork, and grassroots awareness initiatives carried out by the participants and emphasised the importance of public cooperation in strengthening democracy. Certificates and awards were distributed as a token of appreciation for their valuable service to society and the election commission.



The programme was conducted in a well-organised and respectful manner, creating a proud and memorable moment for all those who worked tirelessly during the election period. The event concluded with group photographs and interactions among the participants, celebrating the success of collaborative public service efforts.
