Ebola Alert: Fever Screening Begins at Coimbatore Airport

Fever screening and enhanced health surveillance have begun at Coimbatore International Airport following global Ebola outbreak concerns, with international passengers undergoing thermal checks and travel history verification.

Amid global concerns over the spread of Ebola Disease, fever screening and enhanced health monitoring measures have been initiated at Coimbatore International Airport, airport sources said.

Passengers arriving from foreign countries are also being asked to provide details of their recent travel history as part of precautionary measures.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has issued guidelines regarding the outbreak, following which the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare directed state health departments to strengthen preventive measures to control any possible spread of the disease.

Airport authorities said precautionary arrangements have already been intensified at Coimbatore International Airport. International passengers are undergoing thermal screening using automated high-technology equipment that had earlier been installed during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Officials are also verifying the recent foreign travel history of passengers to identify whether they have visited countries affected by the Ebola outbreak, including Sudan and South Sudan.

Additional health monitoring procedures are also being carried out as part of the surveillance measures.

Airport officials stated that preventive and monitoring activities are expected to be intensified further in the coming days to ensure passenger safety and prevent any possible health risks.
