New Traffic Signals on Coimbatore-Avinashi Road: Trial Run Begins Today

New automated traffic signals installed at ESSO Bank and Pioneer Mill junctions on Coimbatore-Avinashi Road will begin a five-day trial run from June 13. The signals, temporarily removed due to GD flyover construction work, have been reinstalled to regulate traffic flow on this crucial arterial road.

Coimbatore: New automated traffic signals installed at two key locations on the Coimbatore-Avinashi Road will be operated on a trial basis for five days starting today (June 13). The City Police Department has issued a press release regarding this development.

The automated traffic signals at ESSO Bank junction and Pioneer Mill junction on Avinashi Road, one of the most important traffic corridors in Coimbatore city, had been temporarily removed due to the construction of the GD flyover. With the completion of the GD flyover construction work and its opening for vehicular traffic, the need for reinstalling traffic management systems has been addressed.

Following this, new automated traffic signals have been installed at the ESSO Bank junction and Pioneer Mill junction on Avinashi Road. These signals will be operated on a trial basis for five days from Saturday through June 17.

During the trial operation, intensive studies will be conducted on the nature of traffic signal functions and the density of vehicular traffic. Based on the findings, authorities will review whether any changes need to be made to the signal timing calculations or settings before implementing permanent operation of the traffic signals.

Temporary U-turn Closure:

Due to the trial run of the new signals, the U-turn near the Pioneer Mill junction will be temporarily closed. The City Police Department has stated that motorists traveling to Peelamedu, Gandhi Nagar, and Bharathi Colony areas will benefit from this new traffic reorganization measure.

The City Police Department has requested motorists to carefully observe the new signals during the trial period and follow traffic regulations.
