DMK offers three seats to Makkal DMDK

A day after Makkal DMDK, the splinter group of Vijayakanth's party, met the Opposition DMK and extended its support, DMK chief M Karunanidhi on Tuesday allocated three seats to the new out-fit for the May 16 assembly elections to the State.

A decision was taken in this regard after the leaders of Makkal DMDK met DMK's senior party functionaries in Chennai.

The three seats will be contested in Erode, Mettur and Gummidipoondi . However, the Makkal DMDK will contest in DMK's "rising sun" symbol.

Makkal DMDK was floated couple of days back by expelled functionaries of DMDK who sought an alliance with DMK and opposed Vijayakanth's decision to tie-up with Peoples Welfare Front.

After DMK's chief Karunanidhi's son M K Stalin extended invitation to the rebel group, the Makkal DMDK extended its support to the DMK-Congress alliance by handng over a formal letter.
