Rekla Race to commence shortly in Codissia grounds

As the ban for Jallikattu has been removed, in the city of Coimbatore, a rekla race has been organised at the Codissia grounds at around 11:00 am. It is reported that close to 200 carts will be participating in the race under two categories, 200 mts and 300 mts. And, 400 bulls have been expected to participate in this race. 

District Collector, TN Hariharan, Commissioner of Police, A. Amalraj and other senior officials are present at the site to supervise the arrangements for the race site. Minister SP Velumani will inaugurate the rekla race in the presence of other MLA's of this region.

11:05: Minister SP Velumani addressed the gathering. He clarified the doubts behind the ordinance and the procedure that has been behind passing the ordinance. He also assured that the supporters here in Coimbatore need not fear if this ordinance is a very temporary one. He also expressed that it's a honor to be a part of this rekla race here in Coimbatore. 

A large number of public are expected to be present to witness the rekla race, which is scheduled to begin at 11:00 am. Presently, close to 300-400 people are present at the venue. 

The organizers stated that close to 200 carts will be participating in the event, but to the contrary only 5-10 bullock carts are currently present at the venue, which is quite disappointing. However, it is expected that more carts will arrive to the location shortly.
