Condemning the attack by the police on the Jallikattu supporters at the VOC grounds, the communist Party of India (Marxist), Viduthalai Chiruthaikal Katchi (VCK) and the All India Students federation today hosted a protest at Gandhipuram. Hundreds of party cadres and students participated in the protest.

Following the clash between protestors and the police, this morning, several supporters were injured. Public and several political outfits have been registering their condemnation against this attack on supporters, who were predominantly students.
The protestors claimed that the police should not have discharged lathi charge against the students who were conducting the protests in a peaceful manner for all these six days. 'Unleashing attacks on students is unjustifiable and an act of brutality', they said.

Several Jallikattu supporters also joined their protest and raised slogans against the police for their act. The crowd doubled up as non-political people and students joined the protests. The protestors were stopped by the police at the Gandhipuram junction. The police once again lathi-charged and cleared the protestors. A tussle between the police and the protestors broke out as the agitated protestors were adamant to discontinue their protests.
