'It's for the people; by the people' says the team of 'Coimbatore Vizha' who are all set to flag off the 9th edition of this enticing festival for the most enterprising people of this city.
Close to 90 events, 10 days of non-stop gala and entertainment, the Coimbatore Vizha promises an unforgettable festival feel for the Coimbatoreans. The festivities are all set to begin from 27th January and to continue till 5th February.
Since, it's inception in 2009, 'Coimbatore Vizha' has been recognized as people's festival, as the events connects people and creates a togetherness to celebrate the spirit of this vibrant city.
The event is powered by Young Indians (Yi), an integral part of the CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) along with the support from entrepreneurs, establishments and corporate from this city.

This day marks an important day for the 9th edition of the Coimbatore Vizha, as the team behind the Vizha revealed their agenda for the festival. 'Kovai Paatu' a song exclusively created for the Vizha was also released during today's meet at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Avinashi Road.
Chair, Yi, P. Balaji, Co-Chair, S. Prasanna Krishna, Praveen Kumar, Chairman, Coimbatore Vizha briefed on the agenda of the Vizha to the gathering.

Praveen Kumar, Chair of Coimbatore Vizha in his address shared that, 'This year marks the ninth edition of Coimbatore Vizha. Compared to all the previous years, this year is very special as we have added more enticing events to the agenda. Starting from 27th January, close to 90 events will be held in various prime locations of the city. Robofest, kite festival, helmet awareness drive, heritage walk, ganamela, tiger run, tsunami sweep, MVS cycling carnival and Kovai Vizha talent, an intercollegiate cultural competition, food festival and much more gripping events will be hosted this year'.

Praveen also explained about the 'Chippy' mascot, which depicts the emerald dove, the national bird of Tamil Nadu. 'The reason behind choosing the bird is to create awareness among the people, as it has been listed under endangered species list. The Vizha will definitely be a platform for the people to connect with each other and more importantly connect with the city' Praveen assured.

T.R.Vijay Anand, Director of Kovai Paatu shared that, 'We've been working on this 4 minute 'Kovai Paatu' for the past couple of months. The song depicts the spirit of the city in an entirely different angle. The song was shot in 40 different locations including some live locations as well'.
Vijay also put-forth an appeal during his address by citing the practical difficulties of shooting a video in the city. 'While shooting this song, we had to obtain permissions from several institutions. Even if it's time-consuming, it isn't easy to access certain places in the city. Hence, I request the concerned people to allow aspiring film makers to shoot at those location with ease'.
Office bearers and members from Yi, CII and other organisations were present during the event.
