Sniffer dogs help the police in detecting crimes relating to bomb detection, narcotics, murder and other crimes. These dogs undergo extensive training under the supervision of expert dog trainers for a stipulated period of time.
Six dogs which are of german shepard, doberman and labrador breeds were brought to Coimbatore to be trained as sniffers dogs. These dogs underwent comprehensive training at the training centre located within the Coimbatore police commissioner office.
Yesterday, Coimbatore police commissioner A Amalaraj, interacted with the trainers and issued certificates for successful completion of the training. Following which, the dogs were sent to various locations in the district.
