A private organisation in the city had organised a two wheeler rally as a part of the road safety awareness week. Road safety week is celebrated all over the nation from 17th January 17 to 23rd January . As a part of the road safety week celebrations, awareness programmes have been organised at various junctures in the city to educate the road users on road safety, adherence to road rules and responsible driving. Various educational institutions had associated themselves with the city traffic police to instill safe driving practices amongst the youth.
In this regard, a rally of 100 high-end motor bikes was organised today in Coimbatore. The rally was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner for Traffic, S. Saravanan. When speaking on the occasion he said, “The road traffic accidents have decreased when compared to last year. Continued efforts will be taken to create awareness among the public about safe driving and importance of adhering to traffic rules.” he said.

The organizers said that the rally was conducted to create awareness on road safety, how to drive responsibly without causing accidents and the safety measures that the drivers should be mindful of while driving.

A laser show and many other programmes are conducted to observe the road safety week and funds will be used to help children suffering from cancer.
