The 9th Edition of 'Coimbatore Vizha' was officially launched in a grand manner at the Brookefields Mall, this evening. Coimbatore Chapter of Young Indians (Yi) in association with corporates and individual entrepreneurs of this city have organised the event.

Actor Srikanth was the chief guest for the event. The actor who was in the city to promote this Vizha said “Coimbatore always holds a special place in my heart”. He also shared with the gathering his shooting experience in this city and claims it to be an 'unforgettable' experience.

The dancers from Edwin Dance School transformed the event into a gala event. Their thematic and colorful dance moments for some popular tamil songs enthralled the audience. 'Chippy' the mascot of this Vizha was unveiled during the event, which represents the 'Emerald Dove' the state bird of Tamil Nadu. Following which the theme song 'Kovai Vizha Paatu' was also launched.

This Vizha also felicitated people for their tireless social contributions to the society. L Gopinath, Sri Annai Karangal Association, S Kanthavelan, Aathma Public Charitable Trust, Sashikala Sathiyamurthy, Ms.Chef, Shobhana Kumar of Small Differences were recognized for their commendable efforts of social service. The awards were presented to them by Actor Srikanth.

The audience enjoyed every moment of the event and expressed their over-whelming support for the Vizha.
As a part of Coimbatore Vizha, Vanavarayar foundation organised a talk entitled "Festivals of the Kongu Region" by Mr. Suryaganthan at Purandaradasar Kalaiarangam, R S Puram.
Publicized to be an out-and-out festivity for the Kongu region, Coimbatore Vizha will go on floors till 5th February 2017.
Close to 90 events have been planned to be hosted at various prime locations of the city till February 5th.
