Coimbatore Vizha: Colorful kites kiss the clouds at the 'Kite festival' organised by Diamond City Developers.

As a part of the Coimbatore Vizha launched yesterday, enticing events are being hosted all across the city to celebrate the spirit of Coimbatore. In this regard, a colorful nostalgic event 'The Kite Festival' was hosted by Diamond City Developers at Poosaripalayam, Coimbatore.

Anirudh, Associate Director of the company and one of the organizers of the event shared with Simplicity that this event is the brain child of Viswanathan, Managing Director of Diamond City Developers and Jeyaraj,Technical Director of the company.

He also shared that, the aim behind organizing this event is to refresh our childhood memories and relive those moments with our loved ones.

'In today's tech savvy world, children are very much dependent on gadgets for passing their time, outdoor activities like kite flying kind of pass-times have never been experienced by kids of this era. It becomes further more impractical for children those who live in cities, to witness the sight of a kite fly high. And, that's when the thought of hosting one-of-a-kind kite flying event kindled in our thoughts. All safety precautions pertaining to kite flying is strictly adhered, especially strings used to fly kites are free of manjha.

Viswanathan, MD of the organizing company stated that, 'It was 35 years back, I flew a kite. Its's nostaglic! Right now, we are over-whelmed to see the elders and kids jointly holding the strings and flying the kites up there. We are astound by the response received so far from the people. The participants have requested us to host such events every year as it refreshes their memory and gives an opportunity for the kids to stay in touch with these old sporting activities'.

V.K Rao, Founder of Kite Clinic India and his team were there at the spot to assist people in flying kites. It is to be noted that, V.K Rao, is a recipient of many national and international awards in kite flying. The audience were spell-bound to witness his professional kite flying skills, as he demonstrated techniques of flying some mind-blowing types of kites like shark, stunt, series, dragon, delta, power and led kites.

'The event is open only for families. Today, being day-one of the event, close to 100 people participated. For tomorrow, we have already 500 registrations already up. We have split the the event in two slots, the first batch starts from morning 7 to 10 am and the evening slot will begin by 4 to 7 pm.The entry is free for everyone' said the Organizers.
