In order to create social harmony and unity among the people of Coimbatore, and not allow Coimbatore to become a hub for terrorist activities, a peace march is being organised by the Puthiya Tamizhagam Party from Kottaimedu Kottai Easwaran Temple to the District Collectorate at 11 am on November 17.
Coimbatore: In the wake of the recent car cylinder explosion in Coimbatore which sent shockwaves across the city and alerted the police of possible suicide attacks, the Puthiya Tamizhagam Party President, Dr. Krishnasamy announced a 'Rally of Peace for Coimbatore' with the sole aim to make Coimbatore a peace park again. While announcing that the peace rally will be held on November 17, Dr. Krishnasamy issued a statement urging all the people in Coimbatore district to participate in the rally, in large numbers.
"Coimbatore district has been the most important industrial city located at the foothills of the Western Ghats since time immemorial, with a climate that is most conducive for people to live in. Spinning mills and other industrial establishments contributed to the city being renowned as the 'Manchester of South India' after Mumbai; At present, the city has also seen a spurt in the presence of IT companies. Sadly, a series of bomb blasts in 1998 resulted in heavy casualties and economic damage to the city. Hence, normal life of the people of Coimbatore and its surrounding areas was severely affected. It is a matter of grave concern that the car bomb blast that took place near Kottaimedu Easwaran Temple in Coimbatore in the early hours of October 23, just ahead of Diwali, and the subsequent searches at the residences of those involved in it have also resulted in the seizure of explosives that could cause severe damage," opined Dr.Krishnasamy.
"Fortunately, the greatest danger that could have happened to Coimbatore was prevented on October 23. Something could have happened according to their plan, but it would have disturbed not only Coimbatore, but the entire peace of Tamil Nadu and India. It is by no means acceptable to continue to allow Coimbatore as a hub of such terrorists. Therefore, acts of terrorism should be permanently uprooted in Coimbatore. Good thoughts, a sense of unity and solidarity should be inculcated among people from all walks of life. Even if the law does its duty on the one hand, it is the goodwill among all sects of people that will create lasting peace," he added.
The Puthiya Tamizhagam Party President therefore announced that a peace march 'Rally of Peace for Coimbatore' will be held in Coimbatore on Thursday, November 17 at 11 am, from Kottaimedu Kottai Easwaran Temple to the District Collectorate so that all industry, business organizations, educational institutions, religious organizations and others can participate in creating a greater social harmony, unity and solidarity among the people of Coimbatore.
