Union Additional Secretary for Agriculture Abhilash Likki who visited the industrial units located at the city’s Tamil Nadu Agricultural University enquired with teachers and scientists about modern technologies and tools.
Coimbatore: Abhilash Likhi, Additional Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India visited the industrial units located at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) in Coimbatore. He enquired about modern technologies and tools from the TNAU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Geethalakshmi, teachers and scientists.

This was followed by a consultation with beekeepers from Tamil Nadu at TNAU. The meeting, chaired by the Vice-Chancellor Dr. Geethalakshmi and the Head of the Department of Entomology Krishnamurthy, was attended by Abhilash Lucky and Director, National Bee Board as chief guests.
More than 50 beekeepers and bee enthusiasts from Tamil Nadu participated in the event and shared their experiences on beekeeping, the challenges faced and the experiences of marketing.

An exhibition of honey-based products was also held at the meeting. As part of that, the ADP from Erode district, Abhilash Likki, Additional Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India and Dr. Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor, TNAU introduced the state-of-the-art honey extraction machine designed by the beekeepers. Dandayuthapani, owner of ADB bee farm explained the functions of the modern honey extraction machine.
