Salem division railway officials on a ticket checking spree, 62 passengers levied fine.


As part of the ticket checking drive conducted by the officers of the Commercial Branch, Salem Division, Southern Railway, today (08.02.2017) a surprise ticket checking drive was initiated in the passenger trains (T.No.76847-Salem Vridhachalam Passenger, T.No.76850 Vridhachalam Salem Passenger, T.No.56513-Karaikal Bangaluru Passenger and T.No.76849-Vridhachalam Salem Passenger) in Salem-Vridhachalam Section.

62 persons were found to be travelling without valid ticket and 19 persons were found to be carrying unbooked luggage. The passengers were warned for their offence and fine amounts depending on the distance and weight of the luggage were imposed on them. Officials share that a sum of Rs.3,170/- was collected from luggage offenders and a sum of Rs.19,770/- was realized from passengers travelling without tickets. 

13 ticket checking staff, including Chief Ticket Checking Inspector Sri R. Ganapathy, and 3 RPF personne, under the guidance of Sri M. Shahjahan, Asst. Divisional Commercial Manager, Salem were involved during the drive. Sri Hari Shankar Verma, DRM, Salem, has advised to carry out such surprise ticket checks frequently in all other stations of Salem division as well.
