Coimbatore preps up for two-day exclusive Chettinadu extravaganza on Jan. 7 and 8

The city will witness the Culture, Craft and Cuisine of the Chettiars at the first-ever 'Chettinadu Thiruvizha 2023' to be held at the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex Hall D.


Coimbatore: Coimbatore city will witness the Culture, Craft and Cuisine of Nagarathar also known as Chettiars at the first-ever Chettinadu Thiruvizha 2023 to be held at the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex Hall D on January 7 and 8. This event is being held as part of 'Coimbatore Vizha 2023.'



A press meet was convened on Wednesday by the Nagarathar Entrepreneurs Union (a group of entrepreneurs in the city, with firm roots from Chettinadu regions) to share details about this upcoming fest. V Ramu, Chairman of 'Chettinadu Thiruvizha' T Manivannan, Convener, NEU and Muthuraman, MD, Lakshmi Ceraamics chaired the press meet.



It was conveyed that replicas of nine temples that are auspicious to the Chettinadu people will be made and displayed inside the exhibition hall. 80 stalls highlighting Chettinadu architecture, food, craftsmanship, jewellery, sarees and traditional games will be on display on both days.

Entry for the event has been made free for all to walk in and enjoy the event, while a special pass for Rs.1000 will entail special privileges like the opportunity to cook Chettinadu food, make Aathangudi Tiles, play traditional games, and have one meal (veg or non-veg) as per their choice. Separate tokens will also be provided to those who want to separately buy eatbales and other goodies at the event.

Special cultural events will also take place with performances from Kalakapovadhu Yaru Thangadurai and Ramar. Super Singer Mansi is also performing during the Thiruvizha. A fusion music show has also been scheduled. The NEU are spending Rs. 80 lakh to make the 'Chettinadu Thiruvizha 2023' a memorable one for all.
