Workers from northern states, including Bihar, Rajasthan and Gujarat, are on their way to their native places from Coimbatore railway station in the wake of rumours spread by political party IT cell handles and some news outlets in North that workers from northern states are being attacked in Tamil Nadu.

On the instructions of the Coimbatore City Police Commissioner, the police held talks with the workers from the north who were waiting at the Coimbatore railway station.

Workers from the north said, "We are going to celebrate Holi. It's quiet here. But their families in the town said they were being forced to leave out of fear because of the videos being circulated on social media.
It is to be noted that Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Padi has issued a circular stating that all safety will be ensured for the workers of the northern state.
