Coimbatore: The rod leading to the Food Corporation of India (FCI) near Ganapathy has finally been laid to the great relief of commuters and residents.
This connecting road between Sathyamangalam road and Avinashi is also a connecting road to the Coimbatore International Airport, with Vilankurichi and Codissia roads.
According to sources, the FCI has finally initiated to take up the road construction work of the 1.5 km long road.
As many as 300 heavy vehicles take this route to connect to the FCI godowns and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) every day.
The road was highly in battered condition, due to the recent monsoon rains.
It was reported that despite multiple complaints and petitions given welfare association the issue was not addressed.
The sources mentioned that local MP P R Natarajan had earlier written to the Minister of Food and Public Distribution Piyush Goyal seeking immediate actions to restore the FCI roads due to which it was laid by the city corporation.
