District youth wing secretary of BJP party for Coimbatore, Manikandan today submitted a petition to the District Collector in which he has stated that the 10 rupee coins which are issued by the reserve bank are not accepted by majority of shops, banks, bus conductors and even at toll plazas.

'Recently, the RBI issued new 10 rupee coins. People who have ten rupee coins suffer a lot because of this rejection and false propaganda and unwarranted rumors has led to this confusion. Hence, District Collector should interfere in this matter and issue an order to accept 10 rupee coins at all the places and clarify the doubts people and traders have regarding validity of 10 rupee coins', Manikandan said.
He further added that sit-in-protests in front of the banks will be hosted, if the banks continue to refuse to accept the ten rupee coins and no action has been taken by the District Collector, in this regard.
