Coimbatore: The Vande Bharat Express arrived at Coimbatore after a successful trial run on Thursday.

It departed Chennai station at 5.40 am and arrived at Coimbatore Railway Junction 20 minutes earlier than the expected time of 11.40 am.

With a speed of 130 km/h, the Make in India train boasts of eight compartments with a seating capacity of 70 passengers each and is expected to boost the commercial connectivity between cities.
An official inauguration of the train from Chennai to Coimbatore is expected to take place on April 8th and the ticket fares are estimated to be around Rs. 1000-1500.

The Divisional Railway Manager and other officers were present during the trial run and informed the media that it will improve connectivity between metropolitan cities in terms of commercial expansion.

A proposal for additional Vande Bharat services to cities like Bangalore and Thiruvananthapuram has been presented, and funds allocation and other actions for the same will follow up. This milestone initiative is expected to improve commercial expansion between major cities, as Coimbatore is a hub for industries.
