IT employee arrested for stealing 27 sovereigns of gold jewellery from his own mother in Coimbatore

Vignesh (26), an employee of an IT company, hails from Krishnan Nagar in Velandipalayam near Saibaba Colony in Coimbatore. While his mother Shanthi had gone to Kasi, his son Vignesh had stolen 27 sovereigns of jewellery.


Coimbatore: Police have arrested an IT employee for stealing gold jewellery from his own house near Saibaba Colony.

Shanthi (50) is a resident of Krishnan Nagar in Velandipalayam near Saibaba Colony in Coimbatore. She has a son Vignesh (26). He is working in an IT company. At this stage, Shanthi had bought gold jewellery from the cupboard at her house.

On the day of the incident, mother Shanthi had gone on a pilgrimage to kashi temple. She then went to the temple and returned home. She was shocked to find that 27 sovereigns of gold ornaments kept in the cupboard of his house had been stolen.

She lodged a complaint with the Saibaba Colony police in this regard. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case and are investigating. During investigation, it was revealed that it was his son Vignesh who had stolen the gold jewellery kept in the house.

The police arrested him and recovered 27 sovereigns of gold jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh from him. He was later produced in court and sent to jail.
