General Secretary of farmers' union says that Farmers, general public affected by land acquisition

Kandasamy, general secretary of the farmers' union, urged the government to take action to find a suitable solution for the farmers and general public in Coimbatore district who have been affected by the Tamil Nadu Housing Board's land acquisition action.

Coimbatore: Farmers' union general secretary Kandasamy has stated that the Tamil Nadu Housing Board's land acquisition activity is causing hardship for farmers and the general public.

The Chief Minister has instructed that the Tamil Nadu Housing Board's land acquisition activities be addressed. Following this, a demand box has been placed in the housing board office for victims to submit a petition.

More than 50 farmers from Sivananda Colony took out a march this morning, led by Mani, coordinator of the Farmers' Union (caste, religion, non-party) and Kandasamy, the state general secretary, and submitted a memorandum in the demand box at the Tamil Nadu Housing Board office.

Kandasamy, state general secretary of the farmers' organisation, told reporters.

In 1980, the Tamil Nadu Housing Board came up with a scheme to acquire land from farmers with the good intention of constructing houses for the homeless poor and needy people.

It was proposed to implement a 10,000-acre housing scheme in the Coimbatore areas of Veerakeralam, Vadavalli, Vellakinar, Ganapathy, Telugupalayam, Kalapatti, Vilankurichi, and Sowripalayam.

Even after the name change in revenue documents, some people have been given compensation but have not been paid. This has impacted many farmers and the general public in many villages.

Therefore, steps should be taken to find a suitable solution for those affected by the land acquisition process of The Tamil Nadu Housing Board. This is what he said.
