The beautification and rejuvenation of lakes and development of model roads like DB Road and Race Course have helped Coimbatore bag first place in the 'built environment' category in the fourth edition of India Smart Cities Award Contest.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore Smart City has bagged the first prize in the Built Environment Category for better execution of works, including construction of best model roads in areas such as R S Puram, Race Course, renovation and upgradation of various ponds in areas including Valankulam, Periyakulam, Kurichikulam, Muthannankulam, etc. under the scheme.
Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Prathap will receive the award from His Excellency the President of India at a function to be held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh on The 27th.
Coimbatore Smart City, ISAC (India Smart City Award Contest) Awards 2022 has been announced by the Smart City Mission, Director, Ministry of Housing and Development, Union Government. Coimbatore has bagged the first prize in the Built Environment Category category.
A total of 88 proposals from 52 cities in India were submitted for the award. Moreover, Coimbatore has bagged the first prize in the Southern Region of India in the award for best smart cities in project implementation.
The awards will be given to the best cities, best projects and innovative projects implemented to encourage the implementation of smart city projects in the cities. The awards will be presented at a ceremony to be held on September 27 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh by the President of India.
It is to be noted that Tamil Nadu was ranked second at the national level in the inter-state elections for implementing smart city projects.
