Coimbatore: The election fervor in Tamil Nadu is at its peak as the region, along with Puducherry, prepares for a crucial single-phase polling scheduled across 40 parliamentary constituencies tomorrow. Among the 39 constituencies in Tamil Nadu alone, a total of 950 candidates have completed their campaigns, ready for the electoral battle.
In the midst of this political hustle, allegation has surfaced in Coimbatore of Voter Bribery by both DMK and BJP. In a recent allegation, K. Palanisamy, the DMK legal team organizer for Coimbatore North district, has lodged a formal complaint with the Election Officer against Annamalai, the BJP state leader and candidate.Â
The complaint, filed with the election officials, accuses Annamalai and his party representatives of manipulating voter decisions through illicit financial incentives. Specifically, it is alleged that BJP workers are calling voters, persuading them to vote for their leader, and then transferring money via GPay as a bribe for their support.
Further, as per the election conduct rules, individuals unrelated to the constituency should have vacated the area by yesterday evening. However, in violation of these rules, he alleged that individuals from outside the district are currently staying at the Coimbatore BJP parliamentary office and making phone calls to voters, offering money through GPay to vote for the lotus symbol.
Prior to this allegation, the BJP District President Ramesh Kumar also filed a complaint at the district collector's office claiming that members of both DMK and AIADMK have been engaged in voter bribery activities in several key areas within Coimbatore.
