Chennai High Court set to hear a critical case regarding voter list issues in the Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency tomorrow. The petition requests re-inclusion of erased voters and a stay on election results announcement.
Coimbatore: A significant legal case concerning the Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency will be heard tomorrow at the Chennai High Court. The petitioner, Sudhandhirakannan from Nanjundapuram in Coimbatore, has filed a plea following the removal of his and his wife's names from the voters' list. The plea highlights that despite their active participation in previous elections in 2019 and 2021, their names along with numerous others have been unjustly omitted this year.
Sudhandhirakannan alleges that thousands from the area have had their voter rights annulled without proper justification. Despite his complaints to the Electoral Commission earlier this month, he reports no notable action has been taken. Hence, the plea made to the high court seeks not only the reinstatement of the deleted names into the voter list but also demands that no election results be declared until this correction is made.
The urgency of the matter led Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Satya Narayan Prasad to schedule the emergency hearing relatively quickly, ensuring the case will commence tomorrow.
