Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati calls on coconut farmers to benefit from selling their produce at regulated sales facilities starting March 14, 2024, under a price support scheme.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati has announced a new initiative aimed at aiding local coconut farmers by facilitating the sale of their produce at regulated sales facilities under the price support scheme.
The scheme provides significant support prices for husked and ball coconuts procured from farmers. As per the details released today, husked coconut will be procured at Rs. 11.60 per kg, while ball coconut will be procured at Rs. 120 per kg. The government has authorized these transactions to begin from March 14, 2024.
A target has been set to procure 31,500 metric tons of husked coconut and 800 metric tons of ball coconut through ten regulated sales warehouses located in Annur, Anaikatti, Coimbatore, Pollachi, Negamam, Kinathukadavu, Karamadai, Sencherimalai, Sulur, and Thondamuthur. Coconut farmers are advised to approach the nearest regulated sales facility with essential documents such as land records, Aadhaar card copy, bank account passbook, and production certificate.
The purchase activity is scheduled to conclude by June 10, 2024.
