Coimbatore: Muslims in Coimbatore, organized by the JAQH community organization, participated in special prayers during the festival of Bakrid, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim's dedication and sacrifice. The annual celebration of Bakrid by Muslims is a time of social and religious significance.
As part of the festivities, the Aysha Mahal complex in Kuniamuthur hosted the community members as they engaged in prayer and other scheduled events. Various mosques and open fields across Coimbatore were prepared under the JAQH’s guidance for the occasion.
Following the prayers, individuals exchanged embraces and well-wishes, celebrating the holy occasion.
During the prayer service, participants were seen dressed in new garments, marking the auspicious day.
Additionally, in memory of Prophet Ibrahim's sacrifice, community members conducted the ritual sacrifice of sheep and cows. The meat was then divided into three parts — one shared with friends, another donated to the needy, and the third kept for personal use, maintaining the spirit of giving and remembrance during the festival.
