TNAU cancels entrance exams for 2024-25 Masters and Doctoral programs due to technical difficulties and timing issues with applicants' UG degree completion. Fresh admissions to be announced in September 2024.
Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) has announced the cancellation of its Postgraduate Admissions Entrance Examinations for the 2024-25 academic year. This decision affects both Masters and Doctoral degree programmes offered by the university's School of Post Graduate Studies.
The admission process for the 2024-25 academic year had commenced on May 8, 2024, with the entrance examination scheduled for June 23, 2024. TNAU received over 2,800 applications from students of various State Agricultural Universities who were at different stages of completing their degrees.
However, the university encountered technical difficulties in accommodating new applicants. Additionally, it was discovered that a majority of the applicants would only complete their undergraduate degrees by the end of September 2024, creating a timing mismatch with the admission process.
In light of these challenges, TNAU has decided to abolish the current admission process. A fresh announcement for Master's and Doctoral admissions will be made in September 2024, aligning better with the completion timelines of most applicants' undergraduate studies.
The university has assured that the application fee and processing fee collected from candidates will be refunded to their respective bank accounts.
TNAU's School of Post Graduate Studies offers Masters programmes in 33 disciplines and Doctoral programmes in 28 disciplines across 11 constituent colleges. This cancellation and rescheduling aim to ensure a smoother and more inclusive admission process for the upcoming academic year.
