Coimbatore: Two police officers have been suspended for attempting to misappropriate funds seized from criminals at the Singanallur Police Station in Coimbatore.
Sub-Inspector Yusuf and Head Constable Shanmugasundaram allegedly tried to misappropriate Rs. 20 lakh that had been seized from various criminal cases at the Singanallur Police Station. A complaint was raised regarding this attempted misappropriation.
Based on the complaint, senior officials conducted an investigation. During the inquiry, SI Yusuf and Head Constable Shanmugasundaram handed over the money.
In light of this incident, Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan issued an order on August 6, suspending both Sub-Inspector Yusuf and Head Constable Shanmugasundaram for their attempt to misappropriate the seized funds illegally.
This action has been taken to uphold the integrity of the police department, according to officials.
