Leopard found dead at Masinagudi

A male leopard aged about five years was found dead at Kootruparai area in Avarallah Reserve Forest in Masinagudi Range, in the Nilgiris district, on Sunday.

Field director of Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, Srinivas R. Reddy, who visited the place and supervised the post-mortem, said it could have been killed during fight with a leopard or a tiger four to five days ago. Post mortem was conducted in the presence of representatives of NGOs nominated by the National Tiger Conservation Authority and Mudumalai Tiger Reserve authorities. Remains of the animal were burnt as per the standard operating procedures. The entire proceedings were photographed and video graphed.
