Traffic police to get fast response teams

The city traffic police will soon launch a special squad of policemen who will respond to traffic accidents or congestion within a targeted time of six to 10 minutes, City Police Commissioner Praveen Sood said on Friday. He was speaking to members of the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Mr. Sood said that the squads, named Cobra Patrol Teams, would be given 400 patrol motorcycles and direct connectivity with the police hotline Namma 100. Each team will have two policemen on one motorcycle.

Mr. Sood also said that the police would soon launch an app that would allow victims of vehicle theft to file a complaint online and if the police could not trace the vehicle within 60 days, the proper certificates would be issued to the complainant to asssist with insurance claims. “This will improve efficiency,” he said.
