Soaring mercury levels heat up Air Conditioner market

Sale of air conditioners, air coolers, and fans has shot up in the city because of the soaring mercury levels. According to c, Managing Director of Bharath Electronics and Appliances, sales started shooting up since mid-February and peaked in March. Purchase of air-conditioners has doubled and that of air coolers has increased by even 200 percent compared to the same period last year. Customers from rural and semi-urban areas are also buying ACs and air coolers and sales are expected to be brisk till the monsoon sets in, he says. Customers are aware of the need to conserve energy and hence, most of then ask for inverter ACs. Some customers are brand and model specific. Most of the dealers have offers and hence, customers look mainly at power consumption to make a purchase. Even those who have normal air conditioners are now switching over to inverter ACs, says another dealer.
