A two-year-old female leopard was found dead today in a tea estate in Toovanmoolai near Pandalur, about 80 kilometres from Ooty.
The carcass of the animal was noticed by some estate workers, who immediately informed the forest department. Officials of the department immediately rushed to the spot and retrieved the carcass, veterinarian Prabhu said.
Prabhu conducted post-mortem surgery and the viscera were sent to Chennai to ascertain the cause of the death. The carcass was then cremated.
