21.05 lakh first time voters; 7500 voters over 100 years!

21.05 lakh electorates will cast their votes for the first time during the May 2016 elections, according to the electorate statistics released by the Election Commission.

The Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni released the final list of voters, and said that, out of the total electorate of 5.82 crores, women outnumbered men. There are 2.88 crore were men and 2.93 crore women in Tamil Nadu. 4,720 voters belong to the third gender.

Sozhinganallur in Kancheepuram, with 6.02 lakh voters, has the highest number of electors, while Gandharvakottai (reserved constituency), at 1.85 lakhs, has the least number of qualified voters.

The state has 7627 centenarian voters, with Vellore district having the most number of voters aged 100+ (597). On the other end of the spectrum, 1.17 crore voters belong to the 20-29 age group.
