Woman arrested for damaging temple idols in Ooty

Tension prevailed near the Hindustan Photo Film (HPF) campus of Udhagamandalam when it was discovered that eight idols of different gods, belonging to a temple, were found damaged. A 40-year-old woman was taken for interrogation in this regard.

The woman, Nesaripoo, working as service officer in HPF, reportedly damaged the idols with a stone. The incident was captured in a video by a tourist. The police was immediately called.



Hearing about the incident, more than 150 persons, belonging to various Hindu outfits gathered at Pudumund Police station. They were shown the video, which went viral on the social networking websites.

Based on a complaint, the police have taken the woman into custody for interrogation.
