Coimbatore boy's dream to meet Modi comes true

When the summer vacation began, little did Sabari Venkat know that it would be the most memorable vacation of his life. The 12-year-old visually challenged boy had only one dream and that was to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The dream became a reality on Thursday when he got a call from the PMO office asking him to be at the Coimbatore airport at 11am on May 6 (Friday).

"I was thrilled. I kept thinking about what I would ask him," said Sabari. He finally decided to tell him a story and orate a speech of his idol, Swami Vivekananda. Meanwhile, his mother got busy with planing his attire for this special day.

In December, 2015, when Sabari received the 'Best Creative Child Award' from the central government under the Accessible India Campaign (Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan), the Prime Minister could not attend the function due to the Chennai floods. Instead, the finance minister, Arun Jaitley gave away the awards. "I wanted to receive the award from the Prime Minister. Thus, we wrote to the PMO office. But we never thought it would bear fruition," said Sabari's father K Sreenivas.

When they finally met, Modi wanted to know what was Sabari's ambition. It's not surprising that the young boy wants to become an IAS officer. "When he asked me what my dream was, I told him it had just come true," recalled Sabari. He also impressed Modi with his speech and story.

"I wanted to know the secret of his success and he said hard work," said Sabari. The Prime Minister also handed over the 'Best Creative Child Award,' to him for the second time.
