Three held for raping minor girl

he All Woman Police Station (AWPS – West) of the city police arrested three youth on Wednesday on charges of raping and blackmailing a 17-year-old girl of the locality on April 28.

Inspector D. Veerammal said that the victim and the accused were residents of CMC Colony, in Ukkadam, where most residents were sweepers in Coimbatore Corporation or in private firms.

The victim completed 10{+t}{+h}standard and was at home.

The police identified the accused as N. Prakash (25), M. Prakash (25) and S. Manivannan (25). According to the police, the girl and the prime accused N. Prakash were lovers for about two months.

“Around 10 in the night on April 28, she was at home when her lover called her to talk. He took her to the house of his friend M. Prakash when his family had gone out,” the inspector said. She added that the two raped her with the help of their friend Manivannan.

The girl in tears was spotted by Ukkadam police near the Ukkadam Bus Stand that night.
