Voter awareness programme

Thousands of copies of The Hindu English and The Hindu Tamil sponsored by PPG Group of Institutions to ensure 100 per cent voting in Coimbatore were distributed free of cost along with election awareness pamphlets to motorists and other road users here on Monday.

The event was kick started by chairman of PPG Group of Institutions and Ashwin Hospital L.P. Thangavelu at the SITRA Junction on the Avinashi Road. Students of the institution distributed the copies of the paper at traffic signals.

This drive was carried out at the Singanallur Junction, Lawley Road Junction, and NSR Road Junction with the support of the city traffic police. A signature campaign was organised at the bus stops near these junctions, where bus commuters were given a copy of the paper after they signed the white board promising to cast their vote on May 16.
