Wife of ex-councillor booked on charges of impersonation

Pollachi West police have registered a case against the wife of an ex-councillor after she impersonated another woman to secure a job as a Class IV employee in Pollachi Municipality about 25 years ago. Police said that the victim R. Parvathi attended an interview at the employment exchange in 1990 for the above said post.

Employment card

She assumed that she did not get the job as she did not get an appointment order. In 1993 she could not renew her employment card as documentation showed that she was appointed in the office of the Pollachi Municipality Commissioner.

The victim later learnt that the job was given to a woman by name P. Parvathi from Nandanar colony in Pollachi, who was the wife of an ex-councillor.

In 2009 the victim filed a case in the Madras High Court seeking directions in this connection.

Court order

In April this year a division bench ordered removal of the impersonator P. Parvathi from her post and directed the authorities to take relevant action against her.

n a complaint lodged by Pollachi Municipality Commissioner, Dhanalakshmi, the police registered a case against the impersonator under section 419 (punishment for cheating by impersonation) of the Indian Penal Code.
