TMC seeks clarification over the seized Rs. 570 crores

With the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) already clarifying that the Rs. 570 crore seized near Tirupur belonged the bank, members of the Tamil Manila Congress (TMC) have sought further clarification and have questioned the transportation of such a huge sum close to elections with the Model Code of Conduct in place.

Staging a demonstration in front of the State Bank premises near Railway Station, the members of the party also demanded that the Manager of the bank should provide the necessary documents.

Transportation of such huge amount money cannot happen close to weekends according to State Bank rules. Why was there such a huge transaction that too during the election period," questioned M. Yuvaraja, President of the District Youth Wing of TMC.

He also alleged that no proper information had been provided by the bank to the local police before transacting the money.

He further alleged that denominations did not adhere to bank norms and also added that containers were not necessary to transact Rs570 crore, as a single container would have been enough.

"We demand that the Manager clarifies the doubts of the people regarding the issue and a probe should be conducted on the issue," Yuvaraj said.
