PLANT MORE TREES a mantra aptly followed by Olirum Erodu Foundation

Olirum Erodu Foundation has decided to break its own record by doubling the number of trees planted than last year. Olirum Erodu Foundation (OEF) is a not-for-profit organization registered as a public charitable trust. It is founded by a group of leading energetic personalities, who have come together to link all hands to recreate a world-class Erodu, that will offer the very best to its people, socially, economically and intellectually.

This foundation is engaged in a lot of activities. Last year this organization has planted nearly 5000 saplings out of which 2500 were provided by forest department on arterials of the road and various residential localities. And this year they have decided to make the count go up to 10,000 saplings to be planted.

This year already 1200 saplings have been planted so totally making a count of 6200 plants. Out of these 500 were withered and were replaced.The chief of this organisation stated that the survival rate of the saplings are higher if they were planted at the stage of 4 to five height.

On the occasion of world environment day the green initiative was organised in Vellalar College of Engineering and Technology Erode in coordination with the OEF and JCI Erode green city. 250 saplings were planted by students, College correspondent S.D.Chandrasekar, OEF Chairman M. Chinnasamy, Foundation Trustees S.K.M. Sri Sivakumar and R.G. Sundar, President of Erode JCI Green City K. Yuvaraja and the State Youth Wing president of Tamil Maanila Congress Yuvaraja. The plants will be nurtured by NSS wing of the college.
