Accussed in murder case surrendered themselves to police

On 23rd May, 2016, a case was registered at Negamam police station, Pollachi regarding murder of Nagaraj, a businessmen of Chokkampudur Coimbatore.

A special team was formed under Superintendent of Police, Ramya Bharathi and during investigations it was found that Kamalakannan, Krishnakumar, Santhoshkumar, Sasikumar, Sathishkumar, and Mahalakshmi were the main accused in the case. To the surprise of Police the accused Kamalakannan, Krishnakumar, Santhoshkumar and Sasikumar surrendered at Pollachi court and the remaining main accused Sathishkumar and Mahalakshmi surrendered in Judicial Magistrate Court 5 of Coimbatore.

The case history states that Nagaraj, age 60, was married to Premila and has two sons and one daughter Mahalakshmi who was the youngest of the family and studying B.Sc Computer Science at a private college in the city. During her college days, she fell in love with Sathishkumar, a school dropout and a native of Otthakalmandapam. As this issue came to the knowledge of Mahalakshmi's father Nagaraj he expressed his opposition against the love affair between them. But Mahalakshmi's mother was in favour of her daughter's decision. This turned into a tussle between Nagaraj and Premila and she left home with her daughter in a fit of rage on 23rd May. They then took a room at Othakalmandapam and planned to murder Nagaraj with the help of Satishkumar. Satishkumar, in turn, got support from his friends and he plotted the plan.

Nagaraj owns a farmland at Negamam. The person taking care of the farm was on leave for three days which the accused were very well aware of. On May 23rd Kamalakannan, Krishnakumar, Santhoshkumar and Sasikumar’s friends executed the plan when Nagaraj left out to supply milk to Aavin from his farm house. They stopped Nagaraj in the pretense of asking address and stabbed him with a knife and he died on the spot.
