Siruthuli, an established NGO of the city has hosted 12 students from De Montfort University, Leicester, U.K for a learning programme. The students have come on an 11-day visit to study and share their knowledge about waste management practices in the City.

The students are members of the International Development Engineers club of their university and belong to varied departments like  mechatronics, mechanical engineering, business administration.

They visited a few villages in the suburbs of the city to analyse the procedures followed for Waste elimination. Kurudampalayam was one such village they visited, the students were totally taken aback to see the organic wastes getting systematically streamlined and segregated into 21 categories.

The students are extremely content and very excited to learn and share their knowledge for improving the current waste management practices in the city. As part of their agenda, the crew visited Mrs. Chitra Krishnaswamy's terrace garden, which widened their insight on terrace gardening techniques and methods to create organic manure from kitchen waste.

The students also suggested the NGO place pictorial representation on bins to create awareness among people to segregate the wastes accordingly.
