Government employees’ protest continues

State Government employees continued their protest for the fourth day on Wednesday.

The men and women wore black dress to mourn “the death of the administration.” The workers had been on indefinite strike demanding fulfilment of their 20 demands that included scrapping the existing pension system and reversion to the old pension system.

The women workers from noon meal and Integrated Child Development Scheme sang ‘dirge’ to express their protest.

Sources said that around 250 workers from the Law and Justice Department also participated in the protest.

In all, around 1,000 men and women had participated in the protest in front of the Coimbatore collectorate. A few of the workers later staged a road blockade near the CSI Church. The police later removed the protestors.
