National Rural drinking Water and Sanitation awareness rally at Thadagam Road

As part of the National Rural drinking Water and Sanitation awareness, Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD) has marked June 26th to July 4th as an awareness week to promulgate the importance of safe drinking water, proper hygiene and sanitation facilities around the rural an urban areas.

The students of Bharathi matriculation school, Thadagam road participated in the rally organised by the TWAD along with state legislative members, deputy mayor and other officials from the TWAD department. The rally started from the school premise at 9:30 am, the students carried placards emphasising the need for safe drinking water and measures to keep them clean. On June 27th at Thomas Club, Collector office,  the teachers from various educational institutions were given special training on measures and methodologies to be followed to ensure safe drinking water. 



The campaign will hold inspections to determine the cleanliness around the water dispersing tanks and the regularity of cleaning them. The results from the inspection and the suggestions will be updated in the TWAD website. A chain of rallies and awareness campaigns have been planned for the rest of the week.
