A group of more than 20 people belonging to the Gondi community residing at Sugunapuram, Madukkarai gathered at the Collectorate to file a petition regarding issuance of community certificate.
They claimed that, their community people hail from Gujarat, Assam and Maharashtra and they belong to Scheduled caste group. They have been residing in Coimbatore since 40 years and predominantly engaged in selling country medicines for various ailments, around the city and suburbs. Several reminders and petitions to the concerned authorities for issuance of community certificate has gone unnoticed, they grieved.
They alleged that in spite of possessing Aadhar, Ration and Voter ID, all the schemes and concessions announced by the government for the welfare of the scheduled caste community have been denied to them. They urged in their petition that the concerned officials should do the needful and resolve their issue on priority.
