Paris to Nice: Canadian Sikh branded a 'terrorist' again

Canadian-Sikh Veerender Jubbal was once again wrongly branded as an Islamic terrorist on Friday when his morphed picture with the Quran was posted on Twitter, blaming him for the Nice attack. The same picture was circulated on Twitter immediately after the Paris attacks in November last year, blaming him for the same.

This time, one 'Saint Jon (Crumb)?', with Twitter handle @OfficialSamHyde, tweeted: "French Muslim Veerender Jubbal reportedly involved in #Nice terror attacks, posted pictures before committing them."

This was circulated several times over. However, some Twitteratis countered the falsehood, one of them being 'Alexander Hamilton' with Twitter handle @ADHamilton91, saying: "That's a photo-shopped picture that has been used countless times during attacks.Stop propagating false hatred."

Simranjeet Singh, with the handle @SikhProf, who is an assistant professor of religion at Trinity University, tweeted: "People are wrongly identifying my Sikh friend as being responsible for the #Nice attack. Please help end the rumours."

Earlier, Jubbal had posted a selfie holding an iPad on Twitter. Some prankster replaced the iPad with the Quran and posted it on Twitter after the Paris blasts, blaming him for the attacks. After the morphed image was shared millions of times, Jubbal had said in a series of tweets: "I hope everyone has caught on with what is going on. I went viral due to a photoshopped image claiming I am a terrorist. This image has been used, placed on the front page of a major Spain newspaper, showing me to be one of the people behind terror attacks. This puts me in a bad position as I could be harmed andor hurt due to this."
