Every Monday is declared as the Petition day at the Collectorate. Public, Political parties, Social welfare organisations around the city file their petitions at the Collectorate on various pressing issues.
A quick browse on a few petitions that was filed at the Collectorate today:
The parents of a four-year-old child petitioned against the school authorities of Victory Vidhyalaya Matriculation School, Saravanampatti. The parents allege that the teacher had brutally assaulted their child on 4th July, when the parents escalated the issue to the school Correspondent they too gave implausible excuses and also ended up threatening the parents of dire consequences, if reported elsewhere. Hence, the dejected and frustrated parents filed a petition to the collector requesting stringent action against the School authorities.
Meena Logu councillor of the 49th ward filed a petition along with the locals of Sanganoor urging temporary shifting of area ration shop No:40 to a nearby area instead of redirecting to Shop no:132 which is 1 km away from the locality, due to ongoing work by railways department.
D Socrates founder of Social Awareness group filed a petition pinpointing the retail outlets around the city trading banned products like Pan Parag and Gutka. Hence, he had requested the Collector to take stiff action against such unlawful incidents and ensure the welfare of the public and the students community.
The activists of the Hindu Makkal Party covered their face with red cloths and filed a petition spotting the issues faced by public and commuters because of the street and stray dogs around the city. They urged the Collector to devise effective measures and resolve the issue at the earliest.
A senior citizen was seen with bundles of petition papers at the Collectorate today. R.Subramani a resident of Sulur had been on a petitioning spree for the past four years urging action against Natesa Subramaniam who had swindled sizeable volumes of welfare goods announced for the people like Sarees, Dhotis and ration goods. The petitioner stated that Natesa Subramaniam was reprimanded for misappropriating ration cards and goods but no action was taken against him till date. He cited that the issue had been escalated to the CM's Special Cell but no action has been expedited till date. Hence the petitioner in high hopes had come to meet the new Collector and submit his plea.
The Panchayat president of Sithanaickenpaalayam, Sulur and members from that area filed a petition for resuming the construction work of their area Community hall and bus stand. A.P Nagaraj, Member of Parliament had allotted Rs.24 Lakhs for the construction of the same, which was stopped a year before by few locals due to trifling reasons. Hence the petitioners have urged the Collector to reassume the community and bus stand construction for the welfare of the people.
