AIDS Claimed 1,588 Lives In Chhattisgarh In Last 3 Years

Raipur: About 1,600 people in Chhattisgarh died due to AIDS between 2013-15, the state Assembly was informed on Tuesday.

In a written reply to the question by MLA Amit Jogi in the Assembly, Health and Family Welfare Minister Ajay Chandrakar informed that "a total of 8,978 AIDS patients were detected in 2013, 2014 and 2015 in the state.

"1,588 deaths were reported due to the AIDS during this period," he added.

As many as 20 posts of programme officers, including 11 assistant directors and six deputy directors, of AIDS Control Society are lying vacant in the state, the minister said.
